Cooperation by geographical areas

ITALY

Exchanges between INRIA and Italy have significantly increased in recent years.

Nowadays the Institute has Italian partners in 38 European projects, of which 26 are from ESPRIT and 9 are HCM networks. The main partners are the Universities of Rome La Sapienza, Pisa, Milano,...and also industrial companies like FIAT, ALENIA, TECNOMARE.

In addition, INRIA and the FINSIEL company organised in March 1996 a seminar in Rome sponsored by AFIRIT (the French-Italian Association for Industrial and Technological Research). The subject was Information Technologies and Cultural Heritage. It brought together the main actors in the field from the 2 countries.

Since 1993, Italy is represented in ERCIM by a CNR laboratory (the ICE Pisa) who is particularly active in digital libraries.
